Snowboarding in Vermont is a special and intimate occasion especially while living in NYC full-time. When New Yorkers have the chance to Escape the concrete jungle and literally hit the slopes we cherish our time on the hill. If and when you can get away to make the 4 hour trek to Southern Vermont. LifeValet recommends you do it during the week. It’s worth not having to wait in lines and having Runs like this one ( Which I will tell you all about ) to your self. At Stratton Mountain they have all types of versatile terrain to suit all types of Shredding from long steep runs, terrain parks for all levels and my favorite Boarder Cross Trails. “East Byrnes Side” once the original trail location for the US Open was predominately a terrain park. Now it is one of the top Boarder Cross Trails in Southern Vermont used for training by some the top East Coast Shredders. The Trail has been named after a Local Pro who had passed away in the late 90’s due to Asthmatic issues. The Trail Named East Byrnes Side after Douglas Byrnes which is a Play on a famous skateboard park on the west coast Burnside Skatepark. Doug was an Avid Skateboarder himself and was an amazing soul on and off the hill. Supporting the local community with his riding talents and passing his knowledge to the younger generation. He was also an amazing DJ performing at allot of the local grassroots Snowboard events for the Stratton Village and Southern Vermont Community. It is great to see that the mountain and locals have come together to name this trail in his honer.
